Mercury

Mercury 1.5.0, released November 3, 2026, adds user MCP tools over stdio and Streamable HTTP. Legacy SSE and OAuth sign-in are not supported.

What the docs say

The Mercury 1.5.0 release notes, published November 3, 2026, say Mercury can use tools from Model Context Protocol servers, added with mercury mcp add, and that every MCP call asks first in Ask Me mode. The MCP servers doc says tools work over stdio, a local command Mercury starts, and over Streamable HTTP, a remote URL, with static headers for authentication. The same paragraph says MCP resources, prompts, sampling, OAuth sign-in, and legacy SSE servers are not supported yet, and that Mercury Bots do not get MCP tools. The quick-start commands name @modelcontextprotocol/server-filesystem and https://mcp.example.com/mcp as examples. The doc does not publish a connector directory.

Auth. Stdio secrets and HTTP header secrets are written as ${env:NAME} and resolved from ~/.mercury/.env when Mercury connects. The value is not written back into mercury.yaml. The MCP servers doc says OAuth sign-in is not supported yet. A server's tools stay hidden until mercury mcp allow names them. In Ask Me mode every call asks first. Allow All does not cover MCP tools. Only tools named in autoApprove run without a prompt.

Limits from the docs

MCP resources, prompts, sampling, OAuth sign-in, and legacy SSE servers are not supported yet.
Mercury Bots do not get MCP tools.
In any chat, /mcp and /mcp tools are read-only. Servers can only be added or enabled from the terminal.
Allow All does not cover MCP tools. Only tools named in autoApprove run without a prompt, including in scheduled runs.

Setup

Put tokens in ~/.mercury/.env. Refer to them as ${env:NAME} in mercury.yaml.
Add a local server with mercury mcp add <name> --stdio <command> -- <args>.
Add a remote Streamable HTTP server with mercury mcp add <name> --http <url>, and a header when the server expects one.
Run mercury mcp test <name>, then mercury mcp allow <name> <tools> for the tools the agent may see.

Compatibility rule

A listing is included when its directory transport token is one this platform's docs describe. The token is SSE when the transport label contains “sse”; otherwise HTTP when the label contains “http” or the listing has a hosted remote endpoint; otherwise stdio when the label contains “stdio”; otherwise undeclared. Undeclared listings are left out. This is a transport match, not a connection test. MCPwell has not run these servers inside this platform.

Directory tokens stdio and HTTP are included. SSE is left out because the MCP servers doc says legacy SSE servers are not supported yet. The filesystem and example.com commands on that page are setup examples, not a connector gallery, so no listing is marked officially listed from them. This is not a connection test.

Officially listed is a separate mark. It is used only when this platform's own directory or connector gallery names that server and the name matches one listing in this directory. A sentence in a setup example is not a gallery listing. The mark is not a connection test.
